While the mission to equip everyone with the ultimate action camera mount will forever be ongoing, it is nice to feel a sense of completion every once in a while. Over at WannaBes world HQ, we are basking in the glow of ticking the last two boxes as we introduce the final chin mounts for the Fly line of helmets - The Trekker for you ADV riders out there, and the Kinetic for those that prefer that their tires stay more or less in the dirt.
Both the Trekker and Kinetic mounts feature our meticulous attention to detail in design allowing for not only the tip back angle that you know and love, but also the full usage of the vents on both helmets.
What’s that? You don’t know about tip back angle? Unlike most other chin mounts on the market, we 3D print our custom mounts so that you can tilt your camera of choice so that your viewers see what you see when you are in the on-the-pegs attack position. Our research of spending hundreds of hours on the trails has shown that a properly tipped back chin mount angle provides the most realistic view, and you don’t have to worry about having a low branch knock that ridiculous looking “Teletubbie” mount off the top of your lid.
We reversed the mounting screw direction to make it easier to swap batteries and memory cards on the newer GoPro cameras, and yes, it even works with the Media Mod.
Our custom chin mounts are not just for GoPros, either, and will work with many other action cameras including the Insta 360 and DJI Osmo, allowing for even more versatility.
Additional features include a tilt indicator so you can always get a consistent angle, an embedded mounting nut for ease of camera attachment, and due to the camera being mounted directly in front of your mouth, your friends can hear how you are mocking their riding style as they hold you up on your favorite trail.
The mounts are easy to install using the included 3M tape, and once installed they are designed to stay put until you want to remove them. Oh, did we mention that the mounts are guaranteed indestructible? We have literally run them over with a truck before, so if for some reason you are able to break one we will replace it. Also, we will want to shake your hand because we have never met an actual superhero before.
All of our mounts (not just the Fly Kinetic and Trekker lids) come with a standard GoPro style mounting screw, an alcohol prep pad, and some sweet stickers.
We made a video to show the details and provide some basic installation instructions that you can check out here, and if you are not sold on what the benefits of a properly tilted camera will get you, check out our instagram for some epic riding footage.
